2017 ARC-CSI Crash Conference
September 18-21, 2017
South Point Hotel | Las Vegas, NV
The ARC-CSI Crash Conference continues to set the standard for excellence in live, fully instrumented practical crash testing anywhere. Each year for the past 16 years, the ARC-CSI Crash Team has conducted multiple, fully instrumented crash tests that have been the basis for valuable insight into how various crash scenarios occur and have become the basis for a wealth of information on vehicle systems and operations. Nothing compares to an opportunity to see live, full scale crash tests and then, hours later, get your hands on actual data, video, photos and other documentation of those tests to take back and improve your crash reconstruction job performance.
2017 Crash Conference Overview
This year’s ARC-CSI Crash Conference is expanding in some very positive ways.
First, we are hosting the conference at the South Point Hotel which is located in the heart of the premiere southwest Las Vegas valley, just minutes away from the famous Las Vegas Strip. Some of our many amenities include a 16-screen Century Theatre movie complex, 64-lane bowling center and a handful of restaurants that cater to all appetites and tastes. This distinctive hotel features spacious rooms and suites with 42-inch Plasma televisions, Point Plush mattresses and Wireless Fidelity throughout. A unique feature to this property is its Equestrian Center, which is the finest horse facility in the country. South Point also has a fabulous 400-seat showroom that features headliner entertainment and dancing to live bands on weekends.
Second, we are working directly with industry leaders to provide a Pedestrian Crash Research Team. The reconstruction community has been provided via textbooks, papers, and pedestrian reconstruction classes methodologies and formulas to analyze and calculate the speed of a vehicle when it impacts a pedestrian. Some of these equations are scientific-based and others are a result of testing (empirical). The 2017 Research Project Crash Team will be conducting pedestrian impacts to study the accuracy and validity of the scientific and empirical formulas. The team will be led by Crash Team members Michael DiTallo and Bob Anderson. Some of the pedestrian crashes will be conducted live on crash day! In addition, Jeff Muttart and his colleagues will be presenting on the latest research involving pedestrian and nighttime recognition, walking velocity research and gap acceptance research. Mike DiTallo will follow up with a presentation on pedestrian crash reconstruction methodologies using case examples.
Lastly, based on attendee feedback, we have shortened the presentation times to allow for additional presentations/topics. This year, in addition to the pedestrian presentations listed above, we have presentations on vehicle brake lag times, drones, photogrammetry, aerial photography, commercial vehicle braking, low speed in-line crash reconstruction, recreating collision scenes using body cameras, and various other crash reconstruction methods.
As always, we kick-off the conference with crash day where all attendees are bused to the NASCAR track at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway where you will witness live, fully instrumented crash testing. In between the crash tests, attendees can relax in the air conditioned NASCAR media suite and enjoy various presentations and product demonstrations. We are sure this year’s ARC-CSI will meet your expectations and prove to be an excellent learning and networking opportunity. We hope to see you there!
